Digital credentialing: implications for the recognition of learning across borders

This report offer a critical assessment of digital credentialing based on a review of the recent literature and a series of interviews with key actors. The report argues for increased synergies between these developments and the quality assurance systems that have become closely associated with the implementation of a new generation of qualifications frameworks internationally. The report offers an outline of the ecosystem of these digital credentials and show the convergence and divergence with traditional qualifications frameworks. Authors propose that world reference levels – now in development – are key to expediting recognition of skills and qualifications across borders.

Digital Formative Assessment Tools

This lesson focuses on the importance of formative assessment. Four resources are showcased in this lesson. Teachers need to choose at least two or three formative assessment tools on the attached list that are new to them. They will create an assessment with each tool they choose that they will use with students. Teachers will participate in a 3-2-1 Bridge Activity before they begin this lesson.

At the end of this lesson, teachers would repeat the steps they did at the beginning of this lesson with the 3-2-1 Bridge Activity. Again they would share out in the Google+ Community this time with a post sharing if or how their thinking on the topic “formative assessment” shifted from their initial post.

Assessing Visual Materials for Diversity & Inclusivity

Culturally responsive teaching demands that educators know their students and their communities and develop instruction that centers and celebrates their students’ stories in meaningful ways.

Because images can serve as powerful expressions of ideas and meaning, teachers should pay special attention to the messages conveyed by the images in the instructional materials they use. They must also be aware of how their own cultures, perspectives, and dispositions my lead them to favor certain imagery and visual representations over others. Reflecting on how images convey messages through individual visual elements; the relationships depicted through the visual elements; the interplay of text and visual information; and the context in which the visual material was created or is made accessible establishes a framework for evaluation.
